Tool and Die Services
Muthig Industries Inc. tool and die shop has the experienced staff and equipment desired to design and produce the highest quality products. Starting with our CAD design center, we follow through with tooling design, development and tryout, then on to production and maintenance. We use the latest technology from our Wire EDM machining to our CNC machining centers to eliminate human error while assuring a high degree of part repeatability, accuracy and time savings.
Our fully capable tool and die room specialized in manufacturing and maintaining precision progressive dies. Depending on the customer's requirements, we can also design and build a compound die that will run in a master die set, thus reducing cost and lead time. Thanks to years of combined experience in building progressive dies, jigs and fixtures, our journeymen toolmakers emphasize old-world craftsmanship and attention to detail with new production technology.
We offer a full range of tool and die machining capabilities from engineering and building intricate, progressive dies, to turning a shaft and cutting a key-way. Our personnel and equipment ensure quick turnaround to meet deadlines for new products or die repairs.

Pierce, Cut-Off and Form Dies
These dies are used when material can be run from a coil that is slit to the width of the part. As it is fed thru the die it can have holes, slots or other cut-outs punched in the material then it is progressed by a feeder and cut-off or cut-off and formed. Many times the part is finished but it can also be taken to another press and additional tooling used to have other operations done.
Compound Dies
Compound dies are single hit dies that punch or punch and form various types of material to produce a finished part in one hit. The cost of these dies vary depending on the size and complexity of the part. A compound flat washer die would be the least expensive and a drawn or intricate shaped part with many holes would be more expensive.
Progressive Dies
A progressive die uses multiple stations that combine punching and forming to produce a finished part. Generally these dies are able to produce a finished part quickly and most economically. This type is the most expensive to make, but because it is able to produce high volume parts at a low cost, the pay back is almost immediate.
