The Wisconsin tool and die shop of Muthig Industries has an experienced staff and the equipment desired to design and produce the highest quality products. Located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, our CAD design center and Tool and Die department handles tooling design, development and tryout, and then finishes with production, maintenance and repair. We use the latest technology, from our Wire EDM machining to our CNC machining centers, to eliminate human error while assuring a high degree of part repeatability, accuracy and time savings.
Our fully capable tool and die room specializes in manufacturing and maintaining precision progressive dies. Depending on the customer's requirements, we can also design and build a compound die that will run in a master die set, thus reducing cost and lead time. Thanks to years of combined experience in building progressive dies, jigs, and fixtures; our journeymen toolmakers emphasize old-world craftsmanship and attention to detail with new production technology.
Muthig Industries, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin proudly utilizes LaserQC technology that is able to reverse engineer a flat blank part as big as 60"x90". What does this mean for our tool and die customers? The reverse engineering capabilities we have with this technology allows us to take an existing part that does not have a CAD file and scan the complete profile using the LaserQC. We are also able to store the data in a CAD compatible .dxf file. This eliminates the need for time consuming hand measurements and CAD programming. Muthig can provide tool and die services faster and more reliably thanks to the LaserQC technology.

Wire EDM Machining Capabilities
For those high precision components of your tool and die needs, our wire EDM department is capable of producing intricate shapes on punches and dies, prototype parts, die repairs or parts using exotic materials.
- Mitsubishi Submersible FA105 Wire EDM - capacity is 10" x 14" x 7.50" thick with Auto-Threading.
- Mitsubishi DWC90C Wire EDM - capacity up to 10" x 12" x 6" thick
- Mitsubishi RA90 Wire EDM with Auto Threading - capacity up to 10" x 12" x 6" thick
Pierce, Cut-Off and Form Dies
These dies are used when material can be run from a coil that is slit to the width of the part. As it is fed thru the die it can have holes, slots or other cut-outs punched in the material, after that it is progressed by a feeder and cut-off or cut-off and formed. Many times the part is finished; however, it can also be taken to another press and additional tooling used to have other operations done.
Compound dies are single hit dies that punch, or punch and form various types of material to produce a finished part in one hit. The cost of these dies varies depending on the size and complexity of the part. A compound flat washer die would be the least expensive, while a drawn or intricate shaped part with many holes would be more expensive.
A progressive die uses multiple stations that combine punching and forming to produce a finished part. Generally these dies are able to produce a finished part quickly and economically. This type is the most expensive to make; however, since it is able to produce high volume parts at a low cost, the return is almost immediate.
